Summer is well underway and I find myself lacking an essential summer wardrobe dress staple; the French Striped Dress.  No one can deny that the French have some serious style and some of their pieces seem to never really go out of style.  This French-inspired dress is one of them.  When I came up with it, I was thinking of something that a 1960s Brigitte Bardot would have worn. Anyone who follows this blog should know about my love of 60s style. 1960s Fashion Paper dolls, anyone?

So, to remedy the deficiency in my wardrobe, I’m going to make myself a comfortable French Striped Dress to have to wear in the months (and years) ahead.  This tutorial will have instructions on how to first make the pattern, and then make the dress from scratch.  Read on for my full tutorial!

Playing with my little love <3

Hello! It’s been a hot summer this year, and I have been living in dresses (which I have to admit is one of my favorite parts of summer!)  I’ve been thinking about adding a new dress to my summer wardrobe and finally got some time to make it happen.  So today we will be making a nice, comfortable striped summer dress perfect for hot and lazy August evenings (my favorite weather, in fact!).  This dress will have a v-neckline in the front and back, an elastic waistband, and very useful front pockets.  We will first make our pattern using an old dress as a guide, and then our striped dress.  Read on for my Striped Summer Dress Tutorial!

I was cleaning out my closet a while back and decided to get rid of an old pair of jeans.  I loved them, but had them for years and they were wearing out around the back end, so I decided it was time to move on and tossed them into my bag of clothes to get rid of.  Recently, I was thinking of what to bring on my upcoming holiday and was wishing I had a nice pair of summer jeans to bring along.  I fell in love with the length of ankle jeans, like those that can be found at Forever 21 and Macy’s.  This length looks great with a pair of wedged sandals or heels and is a fun alternative to traditional shorts or capris.

I thought of this old pair of jeans and decided to upcycle them, and fix them up.  If I get one more season out of them, it would be worth while.  Well, they turned out better than I had hoped for!  I often pair these with my shirt that I made with my Upcycle Romper into Tunic Top Tutorial.  So, read on for my Upcycle Old Jeans into Ankle Length Summer Jeans tutorial…

Today we will be making a t-shirt that I have been thinking about making since the early spring, but put on hold until after my pregnancy; my Lacy Summer T-Shirt Tutorial.  Though the end of summer may be in sight, there are still plenty of warm sunny days ahead and what better way to enjoy the last days of summer than with a light t-shirt made even lighter from a partially lacy back.  I’ve seen a lot of wonderful examples of t-shirts incorporating lace into their design out there in the blogosphere.  Some of my favorite sources of inspiration include posts from Cotton and Curls, Pearls and Scissors, and So, Zo…What do you Know?.  Today will be my own take on the subject.  This shirt will have a scooped neckline and hemline to match.  The lace on the back of the shirt will mimic the scooped hemline.  Read on for my lacy summer t-shirt tutorial.
